The monthly report now shows which websites link to you and to each competitor / peer, which links you gained and lost this month, and how many people search each keyword you track.
Every monthly report from the Marketing Feed already shows where you rank for the keywords you track and how much of the search results you own against your competitors / peers. From this week it also shows who links to you, who links to them, and how many people search each keyword every month. Both land on Professional and Strategic.
Who links to you, and to your competitors / peers
On the Setup tab of any brand, a new Backlinks section lists your website and every competitor / peer you track, with the number of websites that link to each one, the total number of links, a domain rank and a spam score. Press Check backlinks now and the figures refresh in about a minute. On the 1st of each month the feed records the month just closed for every brand, so each report carries a fresh reading and the change on the month before.
What lands in the report
The monthly report gains a Backlinks section after keyword rankings. It opens with cards for referring domains, backlinks and domain rank, each with the change on last month. Bars compare your referring domains with each competitor / peer, and a table lists everyone you track. Below that are two lists: up to 20 websites that started linking to you this month and up to 20 that stopped. A new link from an industry directory or a supplier is worth knowing about. A lost link from a page that used to send you visitors is worth chasing. The Competitors / Peers table gains a Referring domains column, so the link gap sits beside rankings, ad spend and social reach on the one page.
Monthly searches on every keyword
The Keywords table on the Setup tab now shows how many times a month people in Australia search each keyword you track, with the average cost per click advertisers pay for it. The figures come from Google Ads data for Australia and refresh about once a month. The report's keyword table carries the same column. A rank of 3 for a term with 5,000 searches a month and a rank of 3 for a term with 20 read differently, as they should. Suggested keywords show their monthly searches too, and a suggestion nobody searches for is no longer offered.
Share of voice, weighted by what people search
Share of voice used to treat every keyword the same. Now, once every keyword on the brand has a volume, it is weighted by monthly searches. Holding the top spot for the term everyone searches counts for more than holding it for a term nobody does, so the number in the report reflects the traffic at stake rather than the length of your keyword list. The report says which basis it used.
One new alert
If your referring domains fall by five per cent or more, and by at least five domains, since the last reading, the feed raises an alert in the app and in the Monday digest email. A drop that size usually means a directory, a partner page or a piece of coverage has gone, and it is easier to recover a link in the week it disappears than months later.
Backlinks and monthly search volumes are included in Professional at $499 a month and Strategic at $999 a month, and the first month is free. Read the Backlinks guide and the Keywords guide in the help centre, or see everything the feed watches.
