Upload YouTube Studio exports
Some YouTube channels can’t be connected. This happens when the channel sits directly on the business’s own Google login and the owner can’t sign in for you or move the channel into a Brand Account. See YouTube channel not showing for why.
For those channels, you can upload YouTube Studio’s own export each month instead. The brand’s report then shows a YouTube section built from it, the same as a connected channel.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- Access to the channel in YouTube Studio that lets you see its Analytics. Being added under YouTube Studio > Settings > Permissions is fine for this.
- An owner, admin or member role in your KnowYourMarket.ai workspace. Viewers can’t upload.
Export the month from YouTube Studio
Section titled “Export the month from YouTube Studio”- Open YouTube Studio and switch to the channel.
- Select Analytics, then Advanced mode (top right).
- Stay on the Content tab, so the table shows one row per video.
- Set the date range to the whole month you’re uploading, for example 1 September to 30 September.
- Select + at the end of the table’s header row and add these columns, if they aren’t already there:
- Subscribers gained
- Subscribers lost
- Likes
- Comments added
- Shares
- Select Export current view (the down arrow icon), then Comma-separated values (.csv).
YouTube Studio downloads a .zip file. You don’t need to open it.
Upload it to the brand
Section titled “Upload it to the brand”- Go to Marketing Feed > your brand > Setup tab.
- Find the YouTube Studio exports card under Channels.
- Pick the month.
- Choose the .zip file YouTube Studio downloaded. You can also upload just the Table data.csv file from inside it.
- Select Sync YouTube for the month.
A green line confirms what was synced: views, watch hours, net new subscribers and the number of top videos loaded.
To see it in the PDF, re-run that month under the brand’s Reports tab. See Reports.
Add the total subscribers
Section titled “Add the total subscribers”The export doesn’t include the channel’s total subscriber count, so type it in.
- Check the subscriber count in YouTube Studio at the end of the month.
- On the YouTube Studio exports card, with the same month picked, enter it in Total subscribers at the end of the month.
- Select Save total.
Leave the box empty and save to remove a total.
What the report shows
Section titled “What the report shows”| From the export | In the report |
|---|---|
| Views and watch time | Monthly totals and history |
| Subscribers gained and lost | Net new subscribers |
| Likes, comments and shares | Engagement |
| One row per video | Top videos by views, with thumbnails |
| Your typed total | Total subscribers |
Any column you leave out of the export is simply left out of the report.
Keep it up to date
Section titled “Keep it up to date”- Upload each month after it ends. The card lists the months already synced and shows Awaiting sync for any month without an upload.
- Uploading the same month again replaces it.
- If the channel is connected properly later, the card disappears and the connection takes over from then on.
If the upload fails
Section titled “If the upload fails”“This export runs … to … Set the date range in YouTube Studio to … only.” The export covers days outside the month you picked. Set the date range to exactly that month and export again.
“That file only has the chart.” You uploaded Chart data.csv or Totals.csv on its own. Upload the whole .zip, or Table data.csv.
“This is not a YouTube Studio export.” The file isn’t from YouTube Studio’s Advanced mode export. Follow the export steps above.
“The export has no Views column.” Add Views in Advanced mode and export again.
“Uploading YouTube exports is not enabled for this organisation.” Export uploads aren’t switched on for your workspace yet. Contact support.
