Connecting channels

A channel is one of your marketing accounts, such as a Google Analytics property or a Facebook Page. You connect each one yourself by signing in to your own account (or pasting an API key), then picking what to track for the brand.

When you connect a channel, we pull its last 12 months straight away. Reporting starts from there.

Go to Marketing Intelligence > your brand > Setup > Sources > Channels. Connected channels sit in a grid at the top, each with its account and a status dot; the tiles under Add a channel below connect a new one.

For a brand with no channels yet, the same tiles are in step 1 of the setup checklist, Connect a channel.

For X and for email subscriber numbers without a connected email platform, you can type a few figures in each month instead. See Figures entered by hand.

A YouTube channel that can’t be connected can be fed from YouTube Studio’s own monthly export instead. See Upload YouTube Studio exports.

Client survey and NPS results from Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, HubSpot or any survey tool can be uploaded too, for clients who can’t leave public reviews. See Upload client survey and NPS results.

  • Connect: owners, admins and members. Viewers can’t connect channels.
  • Disconnect: owners and admins only.

Each connected channel’s tile shows its account and a status dot.

Dot Meaning
Green with the account name Working normally.
Amber, Loading history Connected. The last 12 months are still loading.
Red, with a sentence such as signed out or no longer allows access The last data pull failed. A Reconnect button sits on the tile; hover over the sentence to see the platform’s own error message.
Red, Needs reconnecting This channel needs to be connected again with your own login. Select Reconnect.

The same sentence shows under the brand name on every tab, with a Reconnect link, and on the Marketing Intelligence brand list.

If something isn’t right, see Troubleshooting.

  1. Go to Setup > Sources > Channels.
  2. Select the … button on the channel’s tile, then Disconnect.
  3. Select Yes, disconnect (or Keep to cancel).

The channel stops feeding the brand’s reports and alerts.

Each connection belongs to one brand. If you track several brands, connect the right account on each brand’s own Setup tab. Pickers hide accounts that are already connected to that brand.

For a Google Ads account that runs campaigns for more than one brand, you can choose which campaigns count for each brand. See Choose campaigns.
