Organisation schema

Organisation schema is structured data that tells Google the basic facts about your business: its name, website, logo, contact details and social profiles. In the code it’s spelled the American way, Organization.

It helps Google tell your business apart from others with similar names, and can influence the logo and business details Google shows in search results.

Nothing is strictly required, but include what applies:

  • name: your business name
  • url: your home page address
  • logo: the address of your logo image
  • sameAs: links to your social profiles, such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • address, telephone and email
  • description: one sentence on what you do

If you have a shopfront or office customers visit, use LocalBusiness schema instead. It’s a more specific type of Organisation.

You only need it on one page, usually your home page.

Platform How
WordPress (Yoast SEO) Go to Yoast SEO > Settings > Site representation, choose Organization, and fill in the name, logo and social profiles.
WordPress (Rank Math) Go to Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Local SEO, choose Organization, and fill in the details.
Shopify, Wix, Squarespace Many themes and site builders add it already. Run the test below first. If it’s missing, add the code below to your home page through the platform’s custom code or structured data setting.
Custom-built site Ask your developer to add the code below to the home page’s <head>.

Example code, with your own details swapped in:

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Organization",
"name": "Example Co",
"url": "https://www.example.com.au/",
"logo": "https://www.example.com.au/images/logo.png",
"telephone": "+61 7 0000 0000",
"email": "[email protected]",
"sameAs": [
"https://www.facebook.com/exampleco",
"https://www.linkedin.com/company/exampleco"
]
}
</script>

Paste your home page address into Google’s Rich Results Test. It should list Organization with no errors. Google can take several days to pick up the change.
