Request indexing
Requesting indexing asks Google to visit a page sooner than it otherwise would. You do it with the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- You’ve published a new page
- You’ve made an important change to a page, such as a new title tag or fixed content
- You’ve fixed a problem that stopped a page being indexed
How to do it
Section titled “How to do it”- Open Google Search Console and choose your site.
- Paste the page’s full address into the search bar at the top and press Enter.
- The result shows whether the page is on Google.
- Select Request indexing.
- Wait for the quick check to finish. If it passes, the page is added to Google’s queue.
Things to know
Section titled “Things to know”- It doesn’t guarantee the page will be indexed, or how quickly.
- There’s a daily limit on requests, so save it for pages that matter.
- For lots of pages at once, make sure they’re in your XML sitemap instead.
- If the live test shows the page can’t be indexed, fix that first. See Pages not indexed.
